QR (Quick Response) Codes is a type of matrix barcode or two-dimensional code becoming more common now due to their usefulness over standard barcode and they can store much more data, including url links, geo coordinates and text etc.
QR codes are robust, efficient and easy to read. Since the 90s QR codes have been in use, however, recently they are becoming more popular as they meet the barcode data limitations and print bidirectional, providing more data to user checking inventory of fixed assets such as previous locations, users department, repair history, purchase or put to use date etc.
The main drawbacks are QR technology is still relatively new, QR codes readers are more expensive, slow inventory counts and inspections. limited availability of software that can store and write information from these codes.
